CollectivWarehouse Sustainability Plan
CollectivWarehouse aims to transform the world of packaging for the better. With our climate-positive approach and distinctive design, we want to inspire our customers to make better choices for our planet. We provide insights and empower customers to make sustainable choices, with the goal of shifting our impact on the climate from negative to positive.
Our sustainability goals
CollectivWarehouse is committed to making an active contribution to the environment and nature. That is why we strive to operate in a way that not only minimizes our negative impact on nature but also makes a positive contribution. The plans we are developing for the coming years are strongly focused on this goal.
The principles we follow in this regard are:
- We are committed to climate-positive business practices.
- We manufacture as close to home as possible to minimize our environmental impact.
- We focus on selling locally to keep our environmental footprint small.
- We have a strong preference for natural materials and raw materials.
- We choose paper products because of the CO2 they store.
- We choose high-quality products that are suitable for reuse.
- We strive to use as little packaging material as possible.
- We inspire people to make conscious choices and encourage them to reuse materials and recycle them properly.
Reduce the impact
Our greatest environmental impact stems from our products, shipping, and business operations. To uphold our sustainability principles and ensure that we continue to reduce our environmental impact, we have developed a multi-year plan.
Fortunately, we already have fully sustainable facilities. Our office is heated using geothermal energy, all our lighting is LED, and we heat the warehouse with a highly energy-efficient air conditioning system. The solar panels on the roof of our warehouse cover our entire energy consumption. All our waste streams are sorted and recycled.
In addition, the number of miles we drive is very limited. We work remotely, which means we have minimal commuting. Everyone lives within 15 kilometers of their workplace and prefers to travel by bike and public transportation. We usually hold meetings online. We only travel when necessary. There is always room for improvement, which is why we focus on achieving completely fossil-free travel and reducing our waste streams.
Sustainable materials and raw materials
We deliberately choose paper gift packaging, preferably made from recycled paper. First of all, paper has the beneficial property of storing CO2. Furthermore, it is highly recyclable, which means that the CO2 storage is preserved. That is why we choose recycled and renewable raw materials for our products and packaging. We avoid plastics and chemicals and opt for certified raw materials.
Minimal packaging
We strive to minimize waste, which includes minimizing packaging. In some cases, removing or further reducing the packaging would result in our products being damaged and rendered unusable. That is why, in some cases, we decide to keep the packaging and strive to use a recycled or sustainable alternative.
